A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the decision to award Manchester United a penalty after Cristiano Ronaldo went to ground following a challenge from Max Aarons in their win over Norwich on Saturday.
Ralf Rangnick’s men struggled to see off the Canaries at Carrow Road. With 15 minutes remaining, the game was goalless. And David De Gea had already produced some superb saves.
Ultimately however, the visitors would get the winner. Ronaldo went down around the six-yard box after being held by Aarons. The Portuguese certainly made sure that the official was in no doubt that Aarons had had his hands on the forward.

But it was a needless move from the right-back. He could have few complaints once the referee decided to point to the penalty spot.
Ronaldo went on to find the back of the net for the decisive goal.
For plenty of Arsenal supporters however, the decision looked to be an incredibly frustrating one – and not necessarily because they disagreed with the referee.

Their anger stemmed from the Gunners themselves not getting a spot-kick for what they felt was a similar incident involving Takehiro Tomiyasu and Harry Maguire earlier in the month.
On that occasion, Mikel Arteta’s men received nothing despite Maguire having a hold of Tomiyasu during the first-half of their meeting at Old Trafford. In fact, it did not even appear that the VAR checked the decision.
‘Interesting’: Arsenal fans react to Cristiano Ronaldo winning penalty
Several Arsenal fans have insisted that Tomiyasu – who was excellent against Southampton on Saturday – was definitely fouled by the Manchester United centre-back if Ronaldo’s clash with Aarons was worthy of a penalty.
Here is how some of the Arsenal fans reacted to Cristiano Ronaldo being awarded a penalty…
