Could Liverpool tempt Leeds into selling Kalvin Phillips, with player-plus-cash offer after summer move?
Liverpool are one of five Premier League clubs looking at Leeds star Kalvin Phillips – but could the Reds tempt Leeds by including a player of their own?
Phillips, 25, is the subject of interest from five of the Premier League’s biggest clubs. Liverpool are battling Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal and Man City.
That is according to TeamTalk, who also say Leeds are looking to make Phillips their best-paid player in order to keep him at Elland Road.
Leeds have a solid chance of keeping Phillips and even extending his deal. A boyhood product of the club’s academy, he already has a deal until 2025.
But if Leeds fail to progress this season, then Phillips may fancy a move to a bigger club with European competition on the table.
Why Curtis Jones could tempt Leeds into selling Phillips to Liverpool…
It was believed that the talks were over a loan deal – but clearly, there are admirers at Elland Road when it comes to the Liverpool midfielder.
Liverpool could do with another midfielder after letting Gini Wijnaldum go to PSG. Phillips can cover Fabinho, but also play further forward.
While Leeds will be desperate to keep Phillips and reject any advances, perhaps including a player they like in a deal will tempt them into a move.
Liverpool, then, might just tempt the Whites more so than a straight-cash offer – by including £15million-rated (Mail) Jones in a deal for Phillips.
