Report: Leeds to make contract decision amid Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham interest
TeamTalk claim Leeds are looking to make Kalvin Phillips their highest-paid player, amid interest from Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool and more.
Phillips, 25, is a fan favourite at Leeds and is widely-expected to be their next club captain, when Liam Cooper eventually relinquishes the title.
Remaining a one-club man after coming through the academy, he has played 215 times for Leeds. He is now a regular for England, with 17 caps.
Phillips has been linked with a move before – nearly joining Aston Villa in the summer of 2019. But he remained, signing a new deal at Leeds.
Now, Leeds are looking to do the same – with England’s biggest clubs readying an offer. Spurs, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City are keen.
Arsenal, Liverpool and others: Who needs Leeds star Phillips most?
Leeds need him the most. He is by far the Yorkshire club’s best player. Last season, Phillips missed nine Premier League games – and Leeds lost seven.
But if he was to leave Leeds, which of the five clubs interested need Phillips the most? Fabinho has been on fire for Liverpool this season.
Jordan Henderson is also crucial. Arsenal have Thomas Partey and Albert Lokonga, but Phillips would be an improvement on both of those.
Would he join Arsenal? Probably not. Chelsea have better options, while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is Tottenham’s choice. Manchester City need him.
That is because Fernandinho is probably in his final season at The Etihad. He almost left last summer. Next summer, Phillips would be ideal.
