Fabrizio Romano says Chelsea could move for reported Tottenham Hotspur target Josko Gvardiol again in January and that he’s tempted by the move.
But their bitter rivals Chelsea made a move for the 20-year-old this summer and could go back in for the player once again when the market reopens in January.
And Romano claims the London club were ‘really close’ to agreeing a deal with Leipzig for the ‘extraordinary’ Gvardiol.

Romano says Chelsea could move Gvardiol
“It’s important to say that in the final week of the transfer window, Chelsea submitted a proposal to Leipzig for Josko Gavrdiol,” Romano said in his latest YouTube video.
“That proposal that was almost at around 80 to 85 million euros, add-ons included, was turned down by Leipzig.
“But at one point, Chelsea and Leipzig were really close to an agreement for Josko Gavrdiol. Then at the end, it was turned down by Leipzig.
“The player was tempted but Leipzig decided to wait, maybe for January. So Cheslea could be back in January for Gvardiol but this now has to be decided together with Potter because Tuchel was a superfan of Gvardiol.
“But now it’s up to [Todd] Boehly, the new director of football who is coming and Graham Potter but it’s important to say on Chelsea that Gvardiol was really close and at the end the agreement collapsed.
“Of course, the deal was for next summer in 2023 so Gvardiol was a target for the next season to be completed now but for next season.
“No agreement with Leipzig, they extended his contract but Chelsea will also be there in the future.”

It will be a big blow for Spurs if Chelsea do move for Gvardiol once again in January.
Antonio Conte brought in Clement Lenglet from Barcelona on loan this summer but Spurs are in need of another top-class centre-back.
Gavrdiol has shown brilliant promise in the Bundesliga and is seen as one the most promising young centre-backs in Europe.
But Spurs will face a difficult task in bringing the Croatian to North London if they are competing with Chelsea.
