Conte provides update on Skipp, Tanganga and Reguilon before Tottenham clash

Antonio Conte has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur are set to take on Burnley with the same group of players from the weekend with Sergio Reguilon yet to return to training – in comments reported by Football London.

Spurs proved a huge point at the weekend as they beat Manchester City. Their challenge now is to replicate that performance in the games they are expected to win.

What was even more impressive about Tottenham’s performance is that they were without some of their key men. Neither Oliver Skipp and Japhet Tanganga have featured in their last four games.

Meanwhile, Reguilon was ruled out ahead of Saturday’s trip to Manchester City. And Conte suggested that it is looking unlikely that Tottenham will have any of the three players back for the visit to Turf Moor.

“Skipp and Tanganga, they are recovering,” he said, as reported by Football London. “They’re not ready, they’re still not ready for the game against Burnley.

“Sergio, in the training session yesterday he wasn’t present and we’ll see today. I think the situation is the same after the last game. We hope they can all recover soon.”

Ryan Sessegnon set for another big opportunity with Tottenham looking likely to be without Reguilon for Burnley game

Saturday looks to have the potential to be a pivotal moment for Ryan Sessegnon at Tottenham. Previously, he has struggled for game-time. And there was an ominous sign in the recent loss to Wolves.

It was the youngster who was taken off before the half-hour mark with Spurs 2-0 down. He had not been responsible for either of the goals they conceded.

But Reguilon – who has been labelled ‘brilliant‘ in the past – missing out at Eastlands handed Sessegnon another chance for Tottenham. And he went on to produce a really impressive display.

Conte suggested that he was fantastic. And he now looks set to get another opportunity.

Burnley look set to ask completely different questions of Tottenham’s defence. Certainly, Spurs can expect a much more physical contest.

FB Ref shows that Manchester City have won the fewest aerial duels in the Premier League this season. Burnley meanwhile, have won the most.

That will likely affect others more than Sessegnon. But it does highlight how he may now need to show a different side of his game.
