Conte provides injury update on Richarlison after Tottenham win

Antonio Conte has said that Richarlison will need some time to recover from the injury which forced him off during Tottenham Hotspur’s win over Everton on Saturday, with the Italian ruling the forward out of the clash with Manchester United – in comments reported by Football London.

Spurs picked up another win in North London. Goals from Harry Kane and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg saw the side move to within one point of the Premier League summit.

Unfortunately, it was not a perfect evening for Tottenham. Richarlison came off just seven minutes into the second-half with a calf injury.

It is a shame for the 25-year-old given that he had to bide his time for a chance at the start of the season. There will also be concerns regarding the World Cup.

Conte confirmed that Richarlison will miss their next game. But he admitted that it is too soon to say too much more.

“Yeah for sure he’s out against Manchester United, for sure. He felt something in his calf and he won’t be available for that game. I don’t know but I think he needs a bit of time to recover. It’s a pity because we are talking about a player that gives us a lot of quality but at the same time also is strong and he improves our intensity,” he said, as reported by Football London.

“The problem with Kulusevski also needs time to recover. Fingers crossed for the next games because we have to play many many games in a short period. If you have the squad penalised with injuries it becomes a bit difficult but today we showed that we are ready to overcome every difficulty.”

Tottenham fans have only really had glimpses of what Richarlison can do. He is yet to open his Premier League account since making the move from Everton.

But he is clearly a brilliant player to have in the squad. He has already come to Spurs’ rescue once this season, scoring twice in September’s 2-0 win over Marseille in the Champions League.

And with Dejan Kulusevski already sidelined, it is a real setback for Tottenham.

Having said that, if any side could cope with losing two players with the quality of Richarlison and Kulusevski, it is probably Spurs.

Harry Kane has quietly been in sensational form. And talk of any slump for Son Heung-min is largely in the past – even if he is yet to find his best yet.
