Rio Ferdinand suggests Harry Kane’s form for Spurs is being ignored

Rio Ferdinand has told his YouTube channel that Harry Kane‘s form for Tottenham Hotspur at the beginning of this season is being ignored due to the amazing start Erling Haaland has made to life in the Premier League.

Spurs’ record so far has certainly gone under the radar. Of course, Antonio Conte’s men lost the North London derby. And their style of play has not won a raft of admirers so far.

But Tottenham sit third in the Premier League. And they are only four points off the summit. So they have hardly had a poor start.

Harry Kane’s form ignored

Certainly, the form of Kane has been pivotal for Tottenham. The 29-year-old has scored eight goals in nine games in the Premier League.

That record includes winners against Wolves, Fulham and Brighton. He also bagged the decisive brace against Nottingham Forest.

However, you would be forgiven for not realising just how superb Kane has been. Obviously, Haaland has been absolutely outrageous since joining Manchester City, outscoring 13 sides on his own.

And when told of Kane’s record, Ferdinand suggested that the Tottenham star deserves more credit.

“No one’s talking about it. If Haaland wasn’t here, we’d be talking about ‘oh, he’s the best number nine in the world, look at the stats’. Because Haaland is blowing people out of the water, he’s getting ignored,” he told his YouTube channel.

Kane’s form is particularly remarkable given that he has often been accused of being a slow starter. His form in the month of August was often put under a microscope in previous years.

Every time Kane has come in for criticism, he has come back in some style.

It is not him struggling for goals this time around. It is Tottenham who are not exactly playing particularly impressive football right now.

So there is major room for improvement. And given Kane’s record already, that could lead to the England captain achieving something really special this season.
