Antonio Conte has told Tottenham Hotspur’s media team that he was happy to see both Davinson Sanchez and Lucas Moura impress as Spurs picked up another valuable win on Sunday.

Conte’s side have put themselves fourth and piled the pressure on Arsenal before their clash with Newcastle United on Monday. Harry Kane scored the only goal from the penalty spot as Tottenham beat Burnley 1-0.

It was a tense game. But it was an impressive showing from Spurs, particularly with a couple of key men missing. Cristian Romero remains sidelined after missing the North London derby. Meanwhile, Dejan Kulusevski dropped down to the bench after illness.

Sanchez kept his place. And Lucas was promoted, perhaps surprisingly, ahead of Steven Bergwijn.

Ultimately, Sanchez played a key role in the penalty Tottenham won. Meanwhile, Lucas looked bright when he found himself in space amongst a compact Burnley side. And Conte suggested that the ease with which his players adapted was particularly pleasing for him.

“I’m happy for these because every player they know very well the importance for me to train every single player in the squad, and not to be focused only on 10, 11 or 15,” he told Tottenham’s media team, when asked about Sanchez and Lucas.

“And to have this response about my players like Sanchez and Lucas makes me happy because it means that they are working in a great way.”

Sanchez and Lucas step up in important Tottenham win

You would imagine that Kulusevski will return for the final day. But obviously, there is a question mark hanging over whether Romero will feature again this term.

But Sanchez has done extremely well in the last two games. And that will give Tottenham plenty of confidence that he can help them secure a big result on the final day.

It is not yet in Tottenham’s hands. But they have left Arsenal with a huge task to pip them to fourth.
