‘Come on!’: Almiron did something against Crystal Palace that Newcastle United fans will love

Newcastle United will be disappointed not to have come away with all three points against Crystal Palace yesterday.

Alexander Isak, Joelinton and Miguel Almiron all had fantastic chances to score.

VAR also controversially ruled out Tyrick Mitchell‘s headed own goal.

Eddie Howe couldn’t knock the effort put in by the side throughout the match, even if they couldn’t find the back of the net.

And one moment at St. James’ Park highlighted this perfectly.

As reported by Chronicle Live, Howe shouted at his players, “Come on guys!” in the first half.

Moments later Almiron chased back a Crystal Palace player in possession and stole the ball off him.

Newcastle fans will love Almiron’s work rate

Scoring goals was always going to be a struggle with Callum Wilson, Allan Saint-Maximin and Bruno Guimaraes all unavailable.

The Magpies had their chances though, and were subject to one of this weekend’s many questionable VAR calls.

Howe will be pleased with the pressing side of Newcastle’s game, that’s improving every week.

Newcastle’s pressing and work rate is improving every week, something Howe will be very pleased with.

Howe’s side have already kept three clean sheets this season, and have been very hard to beat.

Their only defeat came in the final seconds against Liverpool in mid-week, and the progression under Howe is obvious.

Almiron’s work-rate has always been one of his strongest assets, and it’s no surprise he responded to Howe’s call.

The Paraguayan international has already matched his goal tally from last season, after netting against Manchester City.

Howe’s already praised the 28-year-old’s performances this season, and Newcastle fans will love Almiron’s work rate in this campaign.

Forwards have to contribute defensively in the modern game, and Almiron is a prime example of this.

Howe will be hoping Almiron can start adding more goals and assists to his work off the ball.
