Former Premier League striker Stan Collymore believes Tottenham’s Harry Kane could be tempted to join Newcastle United in the future.
Kane’s own future with Tottenham remains uncertain as the club once again struggle to challenge for the title. Despite a good start to the season, Antonio Conte’s side have dipped off and have conceded first in their last ten games now.
Kane has been linked with moves away before. 2021 saw Man City try and fail to land him. More recently, Bayern Munich are said to have registered an interest.
However, speaking to CaughtOffside, Collymore believes Kane could be tempted by Newcastle and Eddie Howe.
Harry Kane to Newcastle
Collymore believes Kane could be attracted to the challenge of Newcastle. The former Liverpool ace believes a number of factors could influence his decision.
“Harry Kane has 18 months left on his deal and if things don’t go well for the Lilywhites this season, he’s going to look like a very attractive option to a lot of clubs – one of those being Eddie Howe’s Magpies,” Collymore said for CaughtOffside.
“I’m sure Spurs will offer him a new contract, probably a contract-for-life type deal, but whether or not he would sign it, would depend on who is in charge at the time. He may well just decide to ride out his current contract and then look to secure a move to one of the Premier League’s top four teams.

“Kane will have to decide if he wants to be a lifer at Spurs or if he wants to try a new challenge. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Newcastle try for him in a few months’ time, especially if they’re still flying high and challenging for a spot in Europe themselves. I think he gets on very well with Alan Shearer too, so there’s a good foundation there already.
“Don’t be surprised if Kane and Newcastle are a match made in heaven, but again, I don’t want that to detract from Spurs’ managerial problems, which look to me, to be pointing toward a return for Mauricio Pochettino.
TBR’s View: Newcastle would need huge money and a changed Daniel Levy
There is simply no way Daniel Levy is selling Harry Kane to Newcastle. The only way it happens is if the Toon meet a huge asking price and Kane makes a song and dance about leaving.
Even then, it would seem odd for Kane to go to another team not guaranteed to win things. Sure, Newcastle can win things in the future. But time is running out for Kane, so surely a move to one of the game’s giants beckons.
It’s an interesting point from Collymore. But a lot would need to happen and if Kane did go to Newcastle, you do feel it would tarnish his Spurs reputation a tad.
