Tottenham Hotspur are keen on doing a deal for Juventus left-back Andrea Cambiaso ahead of the summer window – but the Old Lady are now making a move to keep the Italian from Spurs’ clutches.

Cambiaso, 24, is impressing at Juventus this season after joining the club in the summer of 2022 – only to go on loan to Bologna for 2022-23. Now at Juventus, he is really making an impact under Max Allegri.

Of course, Tottenham and Juventus often seem to do business. Fabio Paratici‘s move from Juve to the North London club, while Rodrigo Bentancur, Deki Kulusevski and Cristian Romero all came from Juve.

This week, it was claimed that Spurs had made an approach to sign Cambiaso from Juventus. Lyon, Bundesliga clubs and even Real Madrid are supposedly looking at the Italy star ahead of the summer.

But, a report from TMW claims that Juventus are responding to the interest in the ‘untouchable’ star by trying to tie him down to a new contract. His current deal ends in 2027, but they are keen to keep him.

Juve trying to tie Andrea Cambiaso down amid Tottenham move

Tottenham could do with another body on the flanks. Destiny Udogie is the club’s current first-choice left-back, but behind him there is little cover. Ben Davies does not offer the same attacking intensity.

He is likely seen as more of a centre-back by Ange Postecoglou. Ryan Sessegnon’s injury nightmares continue. Cambiaso is renowned for his weak foot ability, and Spurs do have options on the right flank.

But Emerson Royal’s future is always one that is up in the air and probably more so given the form of Pedro Porro recently. Signing Cambiaso would certainly bolster Postecoglou’s options on each side.
