Club director admits he’s struggling to sign ‘immense’ Leeds United player this summer

A club director has publicly confirmed he’s struggling to meet Leeds United’s asking price for one of their players.

Leeds narrowly missed out on automatic promotion last season and now face a summer of trying to keep hold of their prized assets.

Championship Player of the Season Crysencio Summerville has been linked with a move to West Ham United whilst Wilfried Gnonto continues to be targeted by Everton.

Though, it seems as though The Whites will be able to keep hold of one of their other highly-rated stars after a club president said he can’t afford him.

Club president says he can’t meet Max Wober’s price tag

Borussia Mönchengladbach have been trying to bring back Leeds United’s Max Wober for much of the summer after his productive loan spell.

Though, the German club’s president has now confirmed that he can’t meet Leeds’ price tag for Wober.

“We are of course monitoring the market. We cannot meet Leeds United’s demands and Leeds are not looking for a loan. That’s why the story is on hold for now,” Roland Virkus said, via Sport Witness.

“But we have always found good solutions and players like Max Wober sometimes come back into the market right at the end.

“Of course there are also late decisions.”

Max Wober price tag

Wober, who has been labelled as an ‘immense’ defender per Leeds’ YouTube channel, is thought to be valued at around £12.6m.

The Austria international is under contract at Elland Road until 2027, so The Whites are in a strong negotiating position.

In other news, Leeds could return with an improved offer for £4.2m defender after their initial bid was rejected in May.
