Tottenham Hotspur are in a crisis at the moment.

Spurs have lost six of their last seven Premier League matches, and something has to change in north London.

Ange Postecoglou is under pressure, and Tottenham are looking at other options.

Edin Terzic has been linked to Tottenham, while Tottenham are fans of Andoni Iraola.

Of course, the scent of a change in the managerial dugout at Tottenham has led to some calls for Mauricio Pochettino to return to Spurs.

Pochettino was linked to Tottenham 18 months ago before Ange Postecoglou took charge, and speaking on BBC 606, Chris Sutton has been discussing the idea of Pochettino coming back to Tottenham after a caller suggested the Argentine should return.

Chris Sutton reacts to Mauricio Pochettino to Tottenham suggestion

Sutton reacted after a caller suggested that Spurs should bring Pochettino back.

The pundit simply noted that Pochettino didn’t win a single trophy at Tottenham the last time around, and he thinks it would be the same story again.

“Listen, in answer to your question, I would throw the chequebook at Pochettino for six months because he’s got the USA job and say, look, come and help us out for the rest of the season,” The caller said.

“Because he won a lot, didn’t he? He won a lot there. Basically, you want to get Pochettino back, so you’re happy not winning anything. Carry on, then,” Sutton said.

What Mauricio Pochettino said about returning to Tottenham

Sutton thinks that Spurs wouldn’t win anything if Pochettino came back, but the Argentine does feel as though he has some unfinished business at Tottenham.

Indeed, via The Guardian, Pochettino did say that he’d be open to returning to Tottenham one day a couple of years ago.

“Who knows,” Pochettino said. “It’s like life, you never know what is going to happen tomorrow. We need to enjoy today and not look too much in the future. But, for sure, if I’m not working, [and] maybe if they want me one day, why not?”

Of course, since then, Pochettino has soured relationships at Tottenham somewhat by going on to manage Chelsea, but, his bridges at Spurs aren’t completely burnt, as shown by this caller requesting the Argentine’s return.

Pochettino coming back to Tottenham does appear to be unlikely, but, as ever, you can never say never in football.
