Chris Sutton reckons Arsenal have a player who’s going to ‘bully’ certain Premier League teams now

Mikel Arteta has been putting together an Arsenal squad with plenty of bite, who are willing to fight to win the Premier League, and one player is adapting to that ideology.

One criticism of Arsenal in the past has been their lack of fighting spirit in certain games, but Arteta has tried to shake that off.

He has been putting together a competitive squad at the Emirates Stadium with real depth in each position to ensure that the Gunners are always able to compete.

While Arsenal still have a lot of quality in terms of technique, Chris Sutton believes that one person’s individual physicality will cause problems.

Chris Sutton will be a ‘flat track bully’ for Arsenal this season

Arsenal have made a strong start to the season and currently sit top of the Premier League, with Arteta’s signings all managing to impress and make an immediate impact.

Viktor Gyokeres was Arsenal’s star signing that got the most attention during the summer transfer window, with a lot of the focus being on his goalscoring qualities.

However, during the FPL Podcast, Sutton spoke about a different side of his game that hasn’t got as much attention within the mainstream media.

“I would keep him, but then, you know, you mentioned Woltemade, he’s on pens, isn’t he? You see, the penalty thing always comes into the equation.

“What my feeling on the Arsenal centre forward is, Gyokeres, is that he could be a bit of a flat track bully for Arsenal this season. That’s why I would keep him.”

Gyokeres has proven that he’s willing to get stuck in and compete with the Premier League’s top defenders, which should lead to him causing problems for teams throughout the season.

Viktor Gyokeres is still adapting to the Premier League

Mark Clattenburg told TBR Football that players like Gyokeres have to adapt to the physical nature of the division, and if Sutton is correct, then he shouldn’t have an issue with that.

However, the Sweden international is very much still adapting to life in the Premier League, which has seen him deliver some mixed performances so far.

Gyokeres has only managed to score three goals in 10 Arsenal performances, which is a run he will want to improve upon now the international break is over, and Gary Lineker believes the goals will come.

Despite his lack of consistency, Graeme Bailey revealed that Arsenal are pleased with Gyokeres so far this season, with the striker having full backing from his new club.
