It could end up being a case of deja vu for Arsenal and Tottenham fans this summer, with reports suggesting Lautaro Martinez is wanted by rivals, Chelsea.
Martinez has long been a target for Arsenal. The Argentinian is one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe and has been watched by both the Gunners and Spurs in recent windows. Of course, recent reports have suggested the striker has rejected Arsenal, in part thanks to them missing out on the top four.
And in another blow for the Gunners, The Athletic has reported this morning that Chelsea are indeed keeping an eye on Martinez as they eye up potential new players this summer. With new owners at the club, the Blues will be given substantial backing to bring in players for Thomas Tuchel.

Martinez is said to be seen as a player of interest thanks to his relationship with Romelu Lukaku at Inter Milan. Of course, the Argentinian would be an expensive capture. Labelled as a ‘spectacular‘ player by Lionel Messi, reports have previously suggested Martinez might cost around the £66m mark or more.
Tottenham have also been linked with a move for Martinez. Indeed, it was claimed just a few weeks back that the striker quite fancied the idea of linking back up with Antonio Conte.
TBR’s View: Lautaro Martinez To Chelsea Would Raise Eyebrows In England
There will certainly be a clamour for Lautaro Martinez if there’s a sniff he’s available. But the problem for teams like Spurs and Arsenal looking to get these world-class players is that the likes of Chelsea will always be there sniffing.
If the Blues did go out and buy Martinez, it would send a message to the rest of the PL that their new owners are not messing about. He really is that good, and would be a game-changer for any team.
Tottenham, if they want him, would need to act now and act efficiently. Arsenal, meanwhile, probably don’t stand a chance.
