Chelsea are pushing to sign another Arsenal target, this time in the form of Marcus Thuram, as the Blues look to wrap up a January deal.
Both Chelsea and Arsenal seem to be battling for similar players this month. The main one of which is Mykhaylo Mudryk, who is at the centre of a big tug of war between the London clubs.
But according to Fabrizio Romano, Thuram is another player Chelsea might pinch. Arsenal are thought to have scouted Thuram heavily with a view to making a move. However, speaking to CaughtOffside, Romano has said Chelsea are the ones in talks and the Blues would do a deal now if it makes financial sense.

“Chelsea have opened talks over Marcus Thuram. They are exploring the price tag and conditions of the deal as they appreciate Thuram, it’s one of the options they have in the list,” Romano said.
“They’re waiting for Borussia to make a price. There are really many clubs interested in Thuram as free agent, from Inter to Aston Villa; but Chelsea would do the deal now, depending on the conditions. I don’t think it’s linked to the Mudryk deal.”
Chelsea are splashing money on young players this month as Todd Boehly looks to make an impression.
TBR’s View: Arsenal won’t mind losing Thuram if they get Mudryk
Marcus Thuram is a good player in his own right. But Arsenal’s main priority this window has always been signing Mudryk. And if Thuram going to Chelsea means they get the Ukrainian, well, they’ll take that.
Thuram did well at times for France in the World Cup and he is said to be available for a bargain fee as well.
He should be a success for whoever he signs for. But he’s not quite at the level of a Mudryk or Felix, and Arsenal will happily let this one pass.
