Arsenal and Chelsea are seemingly battling over a number of transfer targets this month.

Mykhaylo Mudryk is obviously the main player that both the Gunners and the Blues are hoping to sign.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea have opened talks over another player Arsenal like.

The player in question is Borussia Monchengladbach and France forward Marcus Thuram.

According to Milan Live, the Gunners are battling a number of European sides to sign the 25-year-old.

And 90Min recently reported that Arsenal have sent scouts to watch Thuram in action in recent months.

However, Chelsea appear to have stolen a match by opening talks over the forward, whose contract expires in summer.

Romano, taking to Twitter, said the Blues were exploring a potential January move for Thuram.

He also credited FootMercato’s Santi Aouna, who had previously reported that Chelsea were keen on the player.

Thuram is a superb player who has proven himself at the highest level.

He’s a versatile and prolific forward who can play across the front line.

Were he to join Arsenal, he could cover for Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.

As per Transfermarkt, Thuram has split his time at Gladbach almost evenly between centre-forward and left wing.

The ‘world-class‘ attacker has also covered on the right flank and as a second striker.

While Thuram would be good for Arsenal, maybe Chelsea would no longer be pushing as much for Mudryk if they sign the Gladbach ace instead?
