Chelsea make Jorrel Hato decision as Renato Veiga’s Atletico Madrid move stalls

TBR Football can exclusively confirm what Chelsea and Renato Veiga’s camp have planned after the Blues defender’s move to Atletico Madrid has hit a stumbling block.

Chelsea only signed Renato Veiga last year, but the £12million man has already become surplus to Enzo Maresca’s requirements.

Veiga was loaned out to Juventus in January, and Chelsea are now looking to sell the Portuguese centre-back.

Talks are under way involving Chelsea, Veiga’s camp and Atletico Madrid, but Los Colchoneros have since swooped for David Hancko.

TBR Football can also confirm what the Veiga deal stalling means for Chelsea’s pursuit of Jorrel Hato.

Chelsea not delaying Jorrel Hato move as Renato Veiga camp working on other options

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that, while the Veiga to Atletico deal has stalled, it is not off completely.

Atletico were progressing with Veiga, but then Hancko’s deal with Al-Nassr collapsed and they swooped to sign him from Feyenoord.

Atletico have been fans of Hancko for a long time and, as such, they felt they could not pass up on the opportunity.

TBR Football can also confirm that Chelsea are not delaying their move for Hato – they are pressing on with it.

Meanwhile, Veiga and his team are continuing talks with Atletico, but also doing work on other options.

The latest involving Chelsea and Jorrel Hato along with other targets

Hato has agreed to join Chelsea, with TBR Football recently confirming the Blues feel he is committed to joining the club rather than waiting for a move to Liverpool or Arsenal.

Talks between Chelsea and Ajax are under way, with the Blues believed to have made an initial offer which the Dutch giants have turned down, but discussions are continuing.

Chelsea are also progressing in talks over Xavi Simons of RB Leipzig, but TBR Football understands Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers remains their top creative target.

Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho, who is looking to leave Old Trafford this summer, is also on Chelsea’s radar.
