Chelsea endured a difficult 2025/26 season, but Joao Pedro was one of the few bright sparks for the Blues.
Xabi Alonso has now been appointed to try and turn things around at Stamford Bridge, and the Spaniard would no doubt prefer to keep hold of the Brazilian forward.
Pedro scored 20 and assisted nine in 50 matches across 2025/26, attracting interest from FC Barcelona as a result. However, it has now emerged that Chelsea will not be selling the player this summer.

Chelsea will not sell Joao Pedro
Journalist Ben Jacobs, who previously mentioned the interest from Barcelona, provided the update on Pedro late on Tuesday evening.
Taking to X/Twitter, he wrote: “Joao Pedro isn’t for sale at any price this summer, not even a world-record bid. Chelsea’s position is clear and not expected to change.”
Pedro is under contract at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2033, and his potential exit has already been mentioned to incoming boss Alonso.
However, the Spaniard gave a coy response when one reporter said: “Chelsea has players that half of Europe wants. Joao Pedro, who Barça seems interested in, I imagine you won’t want to let him go. Enzo, Cucurella.”
Alonso replied: “Well this is football, we’ll make a good team.”
While Xabi is seemingly set to keep hold of Chelsea’s top-scoring forward from last season, moves for two midfielders do not appear to be on the cards.
Chelsea not interested in Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes
Manchester City are linked to Enzo Fernandez, so potential replacements for the Argentine being scouted would make sense.
On that front, Newcastle United pair Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes have been mooted as targets.
But in the same update, Jacobs poured cold water on the Magpies duo being eyed by Chelsea.
He stated: “Also understand links between Chelsea and Newcastle pair Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimarães are wide of the mark.”
