Chelsea forward Joao Pedro was shockingly sick on the pitch during Brazil’s game against Chile, and he has now updated fans on his condition.
Pedro joined Chelsea during the summer transfer window, and the former Brighton & Hove Albion forward has quickly made a mark at Stamford Bridge.
The Brazilian has been in scintillating form for the Blues, playing a key role in their unbeaten start to the new Premier League campaign.
However, the 23-year-old forward had fans worried during his performance for Brazil as footage of him vomiting on the pitch surfaced.

Joao Pedro admits he ‘felt a little bad’
Vomiting on the pitch is never something that a footballer is looking to do, and fortunately it is extremely rare that it happens. However, that also makes it extremely concerning whenever it happens.
That was the case during Brazil’s 3-0 win against Chile. Pedro collided with his own teammate, and the impact was so severe that he ended up being sick. After the game, Pedro spoke to Globo about the situation.
“I was following the play, running to try to reach the ball. When I looked ahead, Martinelli was there. We ended up colliding there, hitting my stomach. I felt a little bad, but I was calm afterward.”
Fortunately for Chelsea and Brazil, this issue appears to have been caused by the contact alone and isn’t any form of illness that will see him miss any game time moving forward.
| Match Stats | Pedro |
| Minutes Played | 71 |
| Accurate Passes | 8/11 (73%) |
| Successful Dribbles | 1/4 (25%) |
| Aerial Duels Won | 5/6 (83%) |
Pedro couldn’t take his goalscoring form for Chelsea to the international stage in this game, but he was pleased to be able to represent Brazil.
“I’m very happy to be playing good football for Chelsea, to be back with the Brazilian national team. I think every boy’s dream is to be here, and today I was able to start playing.
“The goal was missing here, that’s part of it. But in the end, what matters is the victory.”
Joao Pedro has settled into life at Chelsea
Earning a call-up to the Brazil side shouldn’t have surprised anyone, given how Pedro started life at Stamford Bridge, proving his £60million transfer fee.
Pedro has started every Premier League game under Enzo Maresca, and has rewarded the Chelsea boss with great output in the final third.
The Brazilian’s attacking qualities have helped the Blues, while talisman Cole Palmer has dealt with early-season fitness issues.
Chelsea are currently second in the Premier League after the opening three fixtures, and will face Brentford on their return to action on September 13th.
