Chelsea fans react as Romelu Lukaku nears emotional return
Chelsea are close to signing striker Romelu Lukaku from Inter, according to Sky Sports. The Belgian is the subject of a £97.5 million bid that has tempted Inter into a sale.
The Blues won the Champions League during 2020/21 and boss Thomas Tuchel is keen to strengthen his squad.
Lukaku scored 30 goals and claimed 10 assists as Antonio Conte oversaw a remarkable title win.
The 28-year-old already has 15 Chelsea appearances to his name. He failed to find the net though after arriving at Stamford Bridge from Anderlecht as a youngster.
Since leaving he has played for West Brom, Everton, Manchester United and Inter, scoring bags of goals wherever he has played.
Lukaku is powerful, a real menace in the penalty area and boats clinical finishing qualities. He could transform Chelsea into title contenders and that will be the hope for Tuchel.

It’s not unfair to say that Chelsea are in need of a world-class striker. Timo Werner doesn’t really fit that description, whilst Tammy Abraham seems surplus to requirements.
Lukaku will be an instant upgrade on those options and supporters are getting pretty excited about the deal being close to completion.
The Belgian looks to have completed the first part of his medical and an announcement might be too far away.
