Chelsea fans discuss West Ham reportedly rejecting move to sign Ruben Loftus-Cheek on deadline day

West Ham reportedly rejected the chance to sign Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea on deadline day – and Chelsea fans have reacted to the reports.

Loftus-Cheek, 25, is in desperate need of game time. Having returned to Chelsea from a poor loan at Fulham, he is low on the Blues pecking order.

The 10-time England midfielder failed to create a single goal in 32 Fulham appearances, scoring only once for the Cottagers during last season’s loan.

The Premier League winner needs another loan, with his current contract set to expire in the summer of 2024. At Chelsea, he will struggle for minutes.

TalkSPORT claim West Ham were offered the chance to sign Loftus-Cheek, but instead chose to bring in Nikola Vlasic and Alex Kral on loan.

West Ham reject Loftus-Cheek: Chelsea fans have their say

West Ham have numerous options in Loftus-Cheek’s position. That is, as a central midfielder or further forward as an attacking midfielder.

The ex-Palace loanee is best in the 10 role, having had a hand in 23 goals during his 82 Blues outings at senior level. West Ham have options.

Kral gives the Hammers another option in midfield, along with Mark Noble – as cover for Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek.

The Europa League is demanding and requires cover, but attacking midfielders are also aplenty at the London Stadium under David Moyes.

Manuel Lanzini, Jarrod Bowen, new signing Vlasic, Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals can all play there. Probably the right move for West Ham.

Chelsea fans have had their say on Twitter.
