Mauricio Pochettino’s future as Chelsea manager is still up in the air, and a new name has been linked with the Blues job now – Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe.
Todd Boehly and co at Chelsea have spent a fortune on new players, but their results haven’t been great. As much as the players are to blame, you’ve got to point the finger at the manager as well. Pochettino’s job, as a result, is under threat.

Chelsea could make move for Eddie Howe if Mauricio Pochettino gets sacked
Chelsea have had an awful season, haven’t they?
The Blues are currently 11th in the table and are 19 points behind Aston Villa, who are in fourth. It’s extremely unlikely now that they will qualify for Europe next season.
Mauricio Pochettino is still adamant that he is the right man for the job, but there is a big chance he will be shown the door if results don’t improve in the coming months.
A number of managers have been linked with the Chelsea job in recent weeks, but the shock name that has emerged now is that of Newcastle United’s Eddie Howe.
That’s according to Ben Jacobs’ report on GiveMeSport, where it has been claimed that Chelsea could consider the 46-year-old Englishman as a potential successor to Pochettino if he gets sacked.
Howe has had a difficult season at Newcastle as well, but he has done a much better job there than Pochettino has managed at Chelsea.

A look at Eddie Howe’s record at Newcastle United
Eddie Howe took charge of Newcastle United in November 2021, when it seemed like the Magpies were destined to get relegated.
The Englishman didn’t just save the Toon from the drop but also led them to a fourth-place finish in the Premier League in the very next season.
After 113 games as Newcastle’s manager, Howe’s record stands at 56 wins, 25 draws and 32 losses. That averages to 1.71 points per game. That’s better than Pochettino’s 1.65 points per game record this season.
It will be interesting to see what Chelsea will decide on Pochettino in the coming weeks and months. Howe is a good manager, but whether he’s the man to take the Blues back to the top is anyone’s guess.
