Report: Roma make improved Granit Xhaka bid
Roma have improved their bid for Granit Xhaka as the Arsenal star remains ready to return from his holiday prematurely to seal the deal, according to a report from Calciomercato.
Gunners fans will be hoping that the club are in the home straight when it comes to negotiating the Swiss’ departure from the Emirates.
It was claimed on Wednesday that Roma were planning to accelerate their pursuit. And it was suggested that Xhaka was ready to cut his holiday short to complete a move.
And Calciomercato is now reporting that the Giallorossi have upped their offer for the 28-year-old.
Arsenal are demanding £17 million for the midfielder. Roma meanwhile, had bid £12.8 million.
It appears that they are still planning to offer the same amount up front. However, they have added £2.1 million in bonuses.
It is not clear how Arsenal will respond to the offer. But interestingly, the report claims ‘the white smoke’ could actually come tonight.
Arsenal boost as Roma improve bid for Xhaka
Ideally, Arsenal would get £17 million up front for Xhaka. However, the latest bid does see Roma take a reasonably big step towards meeting the asking price.
They could earn £14.9 million if they accept the latest bid for the midfielder.
Perhaps, they will hold out for more. But if they do ultimately take the latest offer on the table, it would be a decent amount of money to bolster Mikel Arteta’s transfer kitty this summer.
