Celtic man posts seven-word injury blow on Instagram
Celtic defender Greg Taylor has confirmed on Instagram that he has undergone surgery to correct a shoulder injury – in a seven-word message.
Taylor, 23, had started the 2021-22 season in excellent form for Celtic – taking advantage of Ange Postecoglou’s lack of options at left-back.
He has already played 11 times. While Taylor might not have impressed as much as Anthony Ralston at right-back, he is certainly surprising a few.
But 24 minutes into a Europa League qualifying match against AZ Alkmaar, Taylor landed awkwardly on his should. He has since been absent.
It has now transpired that Taylor has been forced to undergo surgery to fix the problem. Taylor uploaded a seven-word message to Celtic fans.
Taylor blow: Who is next best option for Celtic at left-back?
While Taylor might not be Celtic’s best player, far from it, he is certainly their most reliable option on the left side of the defence.
It might be harsh to say he is the best of a bad situation, but many would have liked Celtic to sign a left-back in the summer. That did not happen.
Celtic’s best two full-backs are Ralston and Juranovic. Unfortunately for Ange Postecoglou, they are right-backs. Juranovic has played on the left.
However, Boli Bolingoli was handed a Celtic rebirth on Sunday – during a 1-0 defeat to Livingston. Some fans were impressed, despite the loss.
The best option would be to sign a new left-back. But as things stand, the best choice Postecoglou can make is to continue to trust Bolingoli.
