Celtic fans applaud Boli Bolingoli despite defeat in return against Livingston
Boli Bolingoli returned to the Celtic side for the first time in over 12 months as the Hoops lost 1-0 to Livingston – but fans applauded his efforts.
Bolingoli, 26, was ousted out of the Celtic side last summer after jetting to Spain in the middle of the pandemic – without permission from the club.
He was offloaded to Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir where he did well, before suffering an injury which kept him sidelined for much of 20-21.
Bolingoli last appeared for Celtic in August 2020, and with Greg Taylor injured, he finally returned to the Hoops line-up under Ange Postecoglou.
Andrew Shinnie got the only goal of the game for Livingston, curling a brilliant effort into the top corner on 25 minutes past Joe Hart.
Bolingoli lasted the entire 90 minutes but failed to provide the difference as Celtic suffered another league defeat – with Rangers drawing at Ibrox.
What did Celtic fans make of Bolingoli and his performance?
Celtic have so far seen Greg Taylor used on the left side of the defence. Injury saw the Scotland star replaced by Josip Juranovic at left-back.
Juranovic is obviously a right-back, playing on his weaker side. Taylor, meanwhile, is hardly the long-term solution. So, it is a problem area.
Bolingoli, a £3million (Sun) signing, was solid in possession and looked to get the ball forward when possible. He also offered an outlet on the left.
Celtic fans took to Twitter to discuss Bolingoli and his display; despite that previous ill-feeling – many thought he was one of Celtic’s best.
