Celtic handed major Kristoffer Ajer boost, player makes agent switch

Celtic have been handed a potentially major boost by Kristoffer Ajer, with the 22-year-old parting ways with the agent who has been sounding him out for a move.

According to a report from the Herald, Ajer has decided to move away from working with Tore Pedersen, who has represented the defender since being a teenager.

Ajer has instead opted to sign a deal with Dutch agent, SEG. That move could well hand Celtic a boost, as it’s Pedersen who has been regularly touting Ajer for a move.

The likes of Leicester City have been heavily linked with making a move. And surprisingly, European giants such as Real Madrid and AC Milan have also been credited with an interest.

But Ajer’s decision could mean Celtic now have a chance of keeping their man. The 22-year-old defender has been in fine form once again this season for the Bhoys.

Neil Lennon will be desperate to keep their man. Having seen the season in Scotland curtailed early, Lennon faces a longer than normal summer wait to see if his players stay put.

This could well be brilliant news for Celtic. Pedersen had basically been putting Ajer in the shop window over the last few weeks.

Ajer’s switch in agents doesn’t mean a move isn’t on the cards, of course. It may be that the Norwegian is planning another move and may feel SEG can facilitate that.

But for now, Celtic can have a bit more hope than they did at this time last week. With Pederson out of the picture, it gives Neil Lennon a chance to potentially get to Ajer early doors before any real interest sparks into life.
