Report: Real Madrid linked with Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer, Everton and Tottenham also keen

Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer could be offered a surprise move to Real Madrid this summer, according to a report from Spanish outlet, Mundo Deportivo.

The report claims Madrid have been alerted to Ajer’s talents by current midfielder, Martin Odegaard.

After impressing for Celtic this season, Ajer is a wanted man this summer in the UK. A number of Premier League sides, including Everton and Wolves, have been credited with an interest in the defender.

The 22-year-old Norwegian is clearly a player of talent. Indeed, former Celtic star Harald Brattbakk described the defender as ‘brilliant’ in a previous interview with the Scottish Sun.

Ajer was initially signed by Ronnie Deila as a midfielder. However, he has since gone on to become a rock at the back for Celtic, helping them to the league title once again this term.

The Bhoys face a fight to keep Ajer, however. Spurs have already been credited with an interest in the defender.

It’s not very often that Real Madrid comes knocking at the door of Celtic.

However, it seems Ajer is such a talent that Los Blancos are keen on signing him. Such interest will be hard for Ajer to turn down, while Celtic will know they can get a good fee from Madrid.

While Neil Lennon and Celtic fans would no doubt love to keep Ajer, it’s hard to see it if interest picks up.

In fairness to Ajer, too, few could blame him if he does indeed jump ship and move to the Spanish capital.
