Celtic fans react to Jean-Kevin Augustin reports

A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to comment on surprise reports claiming that the Hoops want Jean-Kevin Augustin this summer.

Ange Postecoglou may need to sign a new striker in the near future. The Daily Record claimed on Tuesday that a bid worth an initial £18.5 million had been made by Brighton for Odsonne Edouard.

And according to reports from France, Augustin is one player Celtic have on their radar.

Homme du Match believe that the Bhoys are rivalling Fenerbahce for the 24-year-old. It is claimed that Nantes are willing to let him go despite only signing Augustin last October.

Nantes’s stance, unfortunately, highlights the dip the Frenchman’s stock has taken in recent years.

It was three years ago that Augustin had just ended a campaign in which he had scored nine times in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig.

In the two seasons since leaving on Leipzig on loan for the first time, he has only found the back of the net once in all competitions.

And after three appearances for Nantes, he found himself out of the squad for the rest of the season. So it would be a huge gamble for Celtic to pursue a deal.

Interestingly however, there are some Celtic fans who would welcome a move.

But some do seemingly believe that it has the potential to be an inspired roll of the dice if Postecoglou was able to get the best out of Augustin.
