Celtic fans react as reports claim Postecoglou could hand out a fourth contract, to surprise recipient
Celtic could reportedly hand goalkeeper Scott Bain a new contract as Ange Postecoglou continues to hand out deals – and Celtic fans have reacted.
Bain, 30, has played just twice this season and remains firmly planted as cover for Joe Hart. Celtic also boast Greece international Vasilis Barkas.
But it is believed that Barkas could leave the club in the January window. It means Celtic would be left with Bain as cover, and a new deal could arrive.
The Scottish Express claim that Celtic are planning on handing the Scotland international a new deal. He is currently contracted until 2023.
But the three-time Scotland star might get a longer deal now, with Celtic keen to keep him on board as cover for Premier League winner Joe Hart.
What are Celtic fans saying about a new contract for Bain?
Bain’s stats suggest he is excellent, on the surface. A whopping 37 clean sheets in 72 games for Celtic – conceding just 59 – is excellent.
But Celtic fans are not overly convinced by Bain – despite the fact he has played for Scotland. Many believe a new signing is a better route.
Signed by Brendan Rodgers, he is simply not competing with Hart – but instead making the 75-time England man comfortable as first choice.
Many have questioned the decision to hand Bain a deal – with Celtic already giving contracts to Greg Taylor, Anthony Ralston and Callum McGregor.
