Fabrizio Romano reports that French side Lens are about to complete the £4million signing of Bodo/Glimt midfielder Patrick Berg. Linked with Celtic in the summer, Hoops fans have reacted on Twitter.

Norway international Berg, 24, was supposedly a target for both Celtic and Rangers in the summer. Glasgow Live claim, as per VG, that both Celtic and Rangers were taking a look at the talented midfielder.

However, it seems both Glasgow sides have missed the boat. Berg, who currently plays for Norwegian outfit Bodo/Glimt – the side Celtic face in the Europa Conference League – is set to move to France.

French newspaper L’Equipe claim that Berg is about to complete a move to Ligue 1 side Lens. It is stated that a fee of £4million is set to change hands, and states that Celtic were linked in the summer.

Romano says the same, but delivers more detail. He says that Berg is expected in France today, and that he will be signing a contract until June 2026 – labelling a deal with his catchphrase ‘here we go’.

What are Celtic fans saying about Berg, as he looks set to join Lens?

Celtic could do with a midfielder. Callum McGregor is obviously first choice, but James McCarthy is struggling to live up to the hype of his signing. Ismaila Soro is simply struggling for game time at the base of the midfield.

Nir Bitton has impressed of late, but he is hardly a long-term option. Celtic fans have reacted on Twitter to the reports that Berg is about to join Lens, for a bargain £4million.
