Celtic fans react as club reportedly eye left-back
Celtic have reportedly added a new name onto their summer shortlist as Ange Postecoglou desperately looks to improve his defence. Derby left-back Lee Buchanan has emerged as an option, with the Rams currently suffering from a financial crisis. Celtic fans have discussed Buchanan on Twitter.
Buchanan, 20, has broken into the Derby side over the past couple of seasons and caught the eye on the left side of the defence. Last season, he clocked up 37 appearances in all competitions under Wayne Rooney. But Derby’s financial crisis puts his future into doubt.
What are Celtic fans saying about Buchanan?
The Rams are struggling for cash and under a transfer embargo. With Buchanan out of contract in June 2022, he could be sold this summer to bring in some cash for his signature. The Record claim Celtic are keen, even after Derby rejected a £1.2million offer from Nottingham Forest.
Celtic need a left-back, with Greg Taylor being indifferent since his move from Kilmarnock. Boli Bolingoli has returned, after his trip to Spain saw him loaned to Turkey. But a new left-back is needed and Celtic fans have reacted on Twitter to the reports Buchanan is now a target.
Celtic are not alone in their pursuit, though. Nottingham Forest are also keen. The Sun on Sunday (25/07; page 62) claiming Forest have tabled a £2million bid to sign him, after having a £1.2million offer thrown out.
