Mo Elyounoussi scored a sensational hat-trick as Southampton cruised past Newport in the Carabao Cup – and Celtic fans have reacted on Twitter.
Southampton are renowned for being beaten by huge scorelines in recent years. Leicester and Manchester United scored nine in 2019 and 2021.
But the Saints produced a big one of their own on Wednesday night, against a side in Newport that have become renowned for producing giant killings.
The Saints won 8-0 away from home, a brilliant result even despite the difference in clubs. Elyounoussi was on fire, having returned from Celtic.
The Norway international has spent the last two seasons at Celtic, with the bond between Southampton and the Scottish side remaining strong.

Celtic fans caught wind of Elyounoussi’s incredible performance against Newport and many applauded the ex-Basel and Molde star.
