According to reports from Gianluca Lapadula’s home country of Peru, Celtic and Rangers are in talks to sign the Benevento striker this summer. A whirlwind Copa America has seen Lapadula throw himself on to the radar of European clubs. Now, Celtic fans have discussed Lapadula on Twitter.
Lapadula, 31, was a rare shining light in Benevento’s brave fight against relegation from Serie A during 2020-21. The Italian club are becoming the West Brom of Serie A football, going up and down in recent seasons. They finished in 18th, with Lapadula having a hand in 13 Serie A goals.
Scoring eight, he also laid on five assists and for a team down the bottom – they are not bad stats, at all. But it was his form at Copa America that has caught the eye. Peru made it all the way to the semi-finals and the third-place play-off – an achievement no-one expected at the start.

What are Celtic fans saying about Lapadula?
During that incredible run, Lapadula scored four goals in seven appearances. A brilliant return, which has caught the eye of numerous European clubs. Celtic and Rangers are the latest, with both said to be in talks as per Libero. Benevento want as much as £7.5million.
Celtic fans have discussed the rumours on Twitter, regarding Lapadula. Some Hoops fans believe he would be a brilliant addition at Celtic with Odsonne Edouard the subject of a bid from Brighton. But others are more realistic, questioning a move for a 31-year-old striker.
