Celtic fans blown away by star man after Champions League draw
Celtic drew 1-1 with Midtjylland in the first leg of their Champions League second qualifying round last night. For Liel Abada it was a Celtic Park debut to remember.
Abada checked in at Parkhead just a week ago and he’s already busy making a name for himself among the club’s supporters. His first Hoops goal came in a timely fashion and his performance caught the eye.
The Israel cap is something of an unknown quantity really. He has checked in from Maccabi Petah Tikva and operates typically on the right flank.
Last night’s game was a blood and thunder affair. Nir Bitton was sent off for Celtic just prior to the half-time interval.
They weren’t with a man deficit for long though. Anders Dreyer was also shown red 11 minutes into the second-half by the match referee.
Evander did find an equaliser though and the teams will do it all over again next week when Celtic travel to Denmark.
With Abada now settling into the right-wing spot, the future looks bright for the Hoops and there will be plenty more where last night’s performance came from.
Celtic fans buzzing with Abada
Last night’s game was always going to prove a tricky one for Celtic. Midtjylland have a decent pedigree when it comes to qualifying for the Champions League and this wasn’t the worst result in the world.
For Abada it was a chance to really flex his ambition and boy did he do just that. His goal really should have been a winning one, although the Hoops let their guard down in the second half.
Celtic supporters were impressed with his display though and afterwards, they took to Twitter to speak of their delight at the new boy’s heroics.
Here is what the Hoops fan base had to say about Abada as Ange Postecoglou’s team were forced to settle for a share of the spoils.
