‘Something you see on a cartoon’: Carragher has just slammed two Liverpool players live on MNF

Jamie Carragher has lamented the defending shown from Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold for the second goal conceded at Arsenal.

The Reds were on course to head into the dressing room at 1-1 but a counter attack, along with some bizarre defending from both Henderson and Trent, ensured Gabi Martinelli could cross for Bukayo Saka to tap in at the far post.

And after slamming the overall defending on Twitter yesterday, Carragher spoke on Monday Night Football tonight to condemn the Liverpool duo further.

“Trent actually comes across, him and Jordan Henderson it’s like they’ve got roller skates on, they can’t put the brakes on, they go flying past, like something you see on a cartoon isn’t it? You’re trying to chase someone and someone goes flying off the end of the road,” Carragher said on Sky tonight.

As a defender himself, Carragher certainly knows what he’s looking at when it comes to these moments. And once again, it was Alexander-Arnold who found himself at fault once more.

The Liverpool defender is having a torrid time of things this season and his World Cup place is truly under threat.

TBR’s View: Liverpool Falling Apart Defensively

There is something underlying happening at Liverpool at the moment with this defending. Even the likes of Van Dijk look suspect and Jurgen Klopp needs to get a grip on things quickly.

Liverpool are now out of the title race you feel and there is even a concern if they can even make the top four.

And while Carragher’s comments might seem harsh in a way, they are correct. Henderson and Trent simply must do better, and that’s all there is to it. Being compared to a cartoon is almost like a new low, and they’ll surely be keen to put things right in a flash.
