Jamie Carragher is never short of an opinion or two on Liverpool and he was on social media today offering his thoughts on the Arsenal game.

The former Red is a still a huge fan – and critic – of his ex-club and he was one of the keen onlookers today as the Gunners ran out 3-2 winners against Jurgen Klopp’s side. A penalty from Bukayo Saka won the game in the end for Arsenal, who went back to the top of the table.

For Liverpool, though, the result leaves them 14 points behind the Gunners and their title hopes appear all but over now. And Carragher, taking to Twitter just before half-time, slammed the Reds for what he said was a defensive ‘shambles’ to let the Gunners retake the lead.

Liverpool’s defensive problems have been highlighted all season long and Trent Alexander-Arnold was once again involved in some of the bad play on display.

For Carragher, it is infuriating for him to watch and given he was a defender himself, it must be excruciating to see some of the defensive efforts shown by Liverpool in recent weeks.

You have to question what they are doing, Liverpool. They are conceding goals for fun and it makes you wonder what is going on in training during the week.

For so long they’ve been so solid but now they look like conceding every time a half-decent side attacks them.

They have absolutely no chance of winning the Premier League title now and Jurgen Klopp has more to think about that he ever knew he would.
