It was a hard-fought night for Liverpool at Anfield this evening as they ran out 1-0 winners against West Ham on the Saturday night evening kick off.

A goal from Sadio Mane was enough for the Reds to see off David Moyes’ side, who toiled throughout and will have been disappointed not to get a goal themselves in the 90 minutes. For Liverpool, there was a number of good performances on the night. Once again, Luis Diaz was excellent and at the back, Andy Robertson played well while Trent Alexander-Arnold got himself another assist.

But according to former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, there were two standout players on the night and both are new faces at Anfield. Taking to his Twitter account, the Sky Sports pundit praised both Luis Diaz and Ibrahima Konate for their efforts on the night.

Diaz was once again in fine form and even former Chelsea defender John Terry was impressed by him. At the back, Konate appears to be going from strength to strength.

TBR’s View: Liverpool Show Dogged Side With West Ham Win

This wasn’t a night for the free flowing football we have seen from Liverpool. The Hammers were excellent and showed why they’ve been in the top four mix all season.

For Liverpool, it was a night to dig in and grind a result out. And they did that, with Konate a key player for Liverpool throughout the night.

Diaz, as we’ve said before, is simply outstanding. The Colombian was a threat all night and will continue to be a fine player for the Reds.
