Tottenham Hotspur star Guglielmo Vicario was named the Goalkeeper of the Year in the London Football Awards last night.
The Italian is a fan favourite at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He has been fantastic for Spurs this season, and it’s hard to argue that he didn’t deserve the award.
Tottenham’s Bryan Gil salutes London Goalkeeper of the Year Guglielmo Vicario
Tottenham signed Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli last summer for a little over £17 million (Sky Sports).
Not many people here in England had really heard of Vicario, so there were doubts over whether he would be good enough in the Premier League.
Those concerns were put to bed very quickly by Vicario, who has been tremendous this season. He has saved Spurs time and time again, and without him, they would be nowhere near where they are now.
Vicario’s contribution this season was rightly recognised last night. The Tottenham man was named the Goalkeeper of the Year at the London Football Awards.
He took to Instagram to celebrate his accolade late last night, and he received a lot of love from Tottenham fans on the platform.
His teammate, Bryan Gil, was also delighted for him, and he replied with three saluting emojis to applaud Vicario’s achievement.

Vicario has been incredible for Tottenham
A number of players in Tottenham‘s squad have performed brilliantly this season, but we think Guglielmo Vicario has been their best player.
The Italian has played every single game in the Premier League this season, and he has been magnificent. He has saved Spurs on so many occasions and is loved by everyone at the club.
Tottenham’s total xGA in the league this season is 47.92, but they’ve only conceded 38 goals (Understat). That means Vicario has saved nearly 10 goals more than he was expected to.
That’s the reason why Tottenham are still in with a chance of finishing inside the top four, and if they do, we won’t be surprised to see Vicario win the Spurs Player of the Season award.
