Brighton fans react as Liverpool reportedly eye midfielder Pascal Gross
Liverpool are reportedly keen on luring Pascal Gross to Anfield from Brighton this summer, after an excellent 2020-21 campaign. The German star had a hand in 13 goals during the last 12 months. Brighton fans are desperate to keep the midfielder, but some are ready to let him go.
Gross, who turned 30 on Tuesday, is about to enter the last 12 months of his contract at Brighton. Having spent the last four years at Brighton, Gross has clocked up a whopping 137 appearances for the Seagulls – having a hand in 40 goals. His three goals and eight assists have caught the eye of Liverpool.
TuttoMercatoWeb state that numerous Italian clubs are keen to take the Germany Under-20 international to Serie A. But that Liverpool are also keeping tabs on the midfielder, who cost Brighton just £3million (Mirror). Liverpool need a midfielder to replace the loss of Gini Wijnaldum.
Brighton fans react as Liverpool eye Gross
While he might not be the calibre of player Liverpool fans will want, he is clearly proven in the Premier League. It is very difficult to find a player that will join a club – even for Liverpool – that is happy to be a squad player. But surely, a player like Gross would jump at the chance to join the Reds.
Brighton fans have reacted on Twitter to the reports that Liverpool are interested in Gross, ahead of the summer. Many are seemingly keen to keep him, but others have stated what it would take for them to sell. One fan urged Liverpool to pay £20m for £50k-a-week Gross (Spotrac).
