Report: Club now willing to sell 'incredible' £50m Tottenham and Newcastle target just days before window shuts
It could be a busy old last few days of the transfer window for both Tottenham and Newcastle, as both clubs ramp up their efforts to bring in reinforcements for their respective managers this month.
So far, Tottenham have endured frustration in their attempts to bring in new players for Antonio Conte. A couple of big deals have fell through, although reports last night suggested a move for Dejan Kulusevski is now close. Newcastle, meanwhile, have done well enough. They’ve signed Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood, while Bruno Guimaraes is set to complete a move this weekend.
But there could be more to come from both teams. And one man who might now be available before Monday’s deadline is Brighton midfielder, Yves Bissouma. That’s according to The Times anyway, who state that the Seagulls are willing to cash in on Bissouma. The midfielder is now into the last 18 months of his contract, and his value is only going to diminish.
Bissouma has been touted for both Spurs and Newcastle right since the beginning of the window. Brighton are thought to want around £50m for their man, however. Talk of a summer move, then, has been more prevalent than January.
TBR’s View: Bissouma A Late Home Run For Someone
It would be quite the bit of business by Spurs or the Toon if they managed this one. Bissouma is one of the most sought-after midfielders in the Premier League.
Of course, £50m is a decent chunk of change for anyone to find. But long-term, Bissouma might be worth it, especially for Spurs, who are desperate for a midfield general. Highly-rated and lauded as ‘incredible’ by Graham Potter, it’s easy to see why clubs want him.
This could well be one that springs a surprise come Monday. Brighton have always maintained they won’t sell their star man. But as things get to the nitty gritty stage, anything is possible.
