Brendan Rodgers has labelled Aaron Ramsdale the best English goalkeeper right now after the Arsenal star helped the Gunners to another important victory on Sunday – in comments reported by Football London.
Leicester City were beaten 2-0 once again by Mikel Arteta’s side. Thomas Partey and Alexandre Lacazette scored either side of the break for the home side at the Emirates.

But several Arsenal players produced hugely impressive performances as the Gunners strengthened their grip on a top-four spot in the Premier League.
And Ramsdale was one of those who definitely caught the eye. The highlight of his assured performance came when he made a stunning stop to deny Harvey Barnes towards the end of the first-half.

Rodgers himself appeared to be left stunned by the save on the touchline. He raised his arms as if he was convinced that Barnes’ header was going in.
And after the game, the Leicester boss outlined just how impressed he had been by Ramsdale and the way he has improved since moving to Arsenal in the summer.
“For me he’s the best English keeper at the moment,” he said, as reported by Football London. “He’s top. His progression since he came to Arsenal, he’s dealt with that really well. He’s got a really nice calmness to his game.”
Ramsdale a clear contender for Arsenal player of the season
Arsenal are enjoying a much better season. They could book their ticket to next year’s Champions League. And several players have stepped up massively.
It certainly seems that the future is bright. The player of the season contenders list is bound to be made up of several younger players still some way from their peaks.
Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe will definitely be in contention. But Ramsdale is another who deserves so much recognition.
Many criticised Arsenal when they started to pursue the 23-year-old in the summer. They are certainly not laughing now.
Arsenal look to have a number one who can keep the spot for a long time to come. Leicester may already be fearful for their next clash with the Gunners.
