Douglas Luiz has been heavily linked to Arsenal as of late.
The Brazilian midfielder is said to be the Gunners’ top transfer target heading into the January transfer window.
Luiz has started this season brilliantly for Aston Villa, but, interestingly, Arsenal believe the 25-year-old is a player who could get even better.
Indeed, according to Fabrizio Romano, speaking on The Debrief, the Gunners believe that Luiz has massive potential, and they think he could be a top player in the future.

Arsenal think Luiz has big potential
Romano shared what he knows about Arsenal’s interest in the £15m man.
“From what I understand, the dream target in the midfield is Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa. It’s a very complicated deal, it will be very difficult, but from what I understand the dream target is Douglas Luiz. At Arsenal they see him as the dream midfielder with big potential for the future, Ruben Neves could be one of the backup options in case they can’t get Douglas Luiz, but it will be an interesting January window for Arsenal in terms of midfielders,” Romano said.
Scary
Arsenal think that Luiz could get even better, and that’s a very scary prospect.
The Brazilian has already established himself as one of the very best midfielders in the Premier League this season, and the idea that he could still improve is frightening.
Of course, under the tutelage of Mikel Arteta, Luiz could yet hit another level, and if he does, he will genuinely be one of the best midfield players on the planet.
A potential pairing of Luiz and Rice in the middle of the park at the Emirates is mouth-watering, and it’s exciting to thing of what this Arsenal midfield could look like if Luiz does end up coming in.
This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on heading into the winter window.
