Darren Bent has told talkSPORT that Daniel Levy would turn down an £80 million bid for Harry Kane in the summer, even if the Tottenham Hotspur star was not going to sign a new contract with the club.
Spurs fans have not had to deal with Kane’s future being a talking point for a little while with Antonio Conte at the helm. However, that may not be the case for much longer.

Kane’s contract in North London expires at the end of next season. And it is really difficult to know whether he will decide to extend his terms. There is a good chance that the striker does not even know himself where his future lies.
Tottenham wouldn’t sell Harry Kane for £80 million this summer
Kane turns 30 later this year. So the next contract is likely to take him up until the twilight of his career. And playing for a club where he can win trophies may be a priority.

Tottenham have threatened to move to the next level under Conte. But the last few months have shown that there is still some way for Spurs to go before they are back in the title picture in the Premier League.
So it is not out of the question for Kane to hold off on a decision on his future for the time-being. And that may mean that he enters the final year of his deal.
For some, that may present an opportunity this summer. But Bent believes that Levy would rather risk losing him on a free than accept a big bid from a Premier League rival in the next window.
“Daniel Levy would say no. That’s the problem you’ve got. Because £70 million for a guy who’s got a year left is bonkers. But for someone of that quality you go, okay,” he told talkSPORT.
“I think Daniel Levy would let him go for free.
“Man United bid £70 million and Chelsea bid £80 million. Is he going to sell Harry Kane to Chelsea? Absolutely not.”
Tottenham selling Kane would be such an ominous sign. There have been instances when a club has used clever recruitment and actually kicked on when they have sold their best players.
But Kane is one of the best in the world. He was ‘majestic‘ on Wednesday. So Spurs should only let him go for an astronomical fee.
Kane is about to become the club’s all-time leading goalscorer. A sale would leave Spurs with a huge void to fill. And it would send out a worrying statement to the rest of the squad, as well as any transfer targets they may have.
