Ben Foster has told his YouTube channel that he thinks that he was wrong to predict that Leeds would struggle this season following their brilliant 3-0 win on Sunday.
Leeds currently sit third in the Premier League table after the opening three games. They beat Wolves 2-1 on the opening day. And they took a point back from their trip to Southampton – though that was only after the Saints produced a superb late comeback.

But their biggest statement came on Sunday. Leeds hosted Chelsea at Elland Road. And many would have been expecting the Whites to lose.
The jury has been out on Jesse Marsch. And the Blues went into the game off the back of an outstanding display against Tottenham the previous week.

However, Leeds stunned Thomas Tuchel’s men. Goals from Brenden Aaronson, Rodrigo and Jack Harrison sent Elland Road into a frenzy. And the result left Foster with food for thought.
The goalkeeper – who was linked with a Leeds move earlier in the window – previously backed Leeds to finish 16th. He suggested that they would struggle without Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips.
But after watching their latest display, Foster has changed his mind on how Leeds will get on.
“I honestly thought they were going to struggle this season. I did. But the way that they play, the tempo that they play, the manager that they’ve got and they’ve still got some pearlers in there, I think they’re going to be golden,” he told his YouTube channel.

Obviously, there is a very, very long way to go. And Marsch will be wary of allowing Leeds to get carried away. But the contrast from last season is already remarkable.
For example, Leeds did not have seven points until October 23rd last year. Meanwhile, they did not have two wins until the 31st of the same month.
They also took one point from the same three fixtures last season.
Leeds also have players such as Liam Cooper, Junior Firpo, Adam Forshaw, Mateusz Klich, Luis Sinisterra, Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt waiting in the wings. Some have not yet featured this season.
The situation is currently looking a lot brighter for Leeds than many, including Foster, would have expected.
