Manchester United reportedly like Torino centre-back Perr Schuurs, a player who has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

That’s according to 90 Min, with the outlet claiming that United are looking to dip into the market for a new defender once Harry Maguire completes a switch to West Ham.

Tottenham finally snapped up a new centre-back this week as Micky van de Ven completed a long-awaited switch from Wolfsburg.

The 22-year-old is expected to come in and start alongside Cristian Romero, but Spurs could still move for another defender before the window closes.

Indeed, Joe Rodon is nearing a switch to Elland Road and the likes of Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga have been heavily linked with moves away from the club.

Fabrizio Romano claims that Spurs have held internal talks over the possibility of signing Perr Schuurs this summer, with the player keen on a move to the Premier League.

But Tottenham could face stern competition for his signature from United.

United interested in Schuurs

90 Min reports that Schuurs is ‘liked’ behind the scenes at Old Trafford, with Erik ten Hag on the lookout for a new centre-back.

It comes after United were also linked with a move for another Tottenham target in Edmond Tapsoba yesterday.

Schuurs has impressed in Italy after making the switch to Torino from Ajax last summer.

The 23-year-old enjoyed a brilliant campaign in Serie A and is now attracting interest from a host of top clubs, with his price tag reportedly set at around £28 million.

Of course, Spurs will need to shift some players out the door before they look at signing another centre-back.

But with United now on the lookout for a player in the same position, they may just be forced to speed up their business.

While Van de Ven should be a brilliant addition to Postecoglou’s squad, Tottenham will need another quality option at centre-back.
