Manchester United are now interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur target and Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Edmond Tapsoba.
That’s according to the Manchester Evening News who revealed that United are looking to sign a centre-back as Harry Maguire nears an exit.

And with Tottenham still interested in signing another centre-back in this window we could potentially see a race between the two clubs.
Spurs’ interest in Tapsoba has been long known as Ange Postecoglou was clearly keen to reshuffle his options.
22-year-old Micky van de Ven arrived at the club from Wolfsburg for £34m yesterday and looks to be a significant step in the club’s new direction.
And whilst it looks like Crisitan Romero is his most likely partner in Spurs’ back four, that could change if interest in Tapsoba accelerates.
Tapsoba arrived at Bayer Leverkusen in 2020 and has caught attention all over Europe as his performances have steadily improved.
And if Manchester United are now to rival Tottenham for ‘exceptional’ Tapsoba, we could have another summer saga on our hands.
Manchester United now interested in Tottenham target Tapsoba
Both Tottenham and Manchester United have already had progressive windows this summer.
Manchester United have taken another step in embodying the philosophy of Erik ten Hag.

Andre Onana was a significant signing in allowing United to play out from the back like a Ten Hag team.
Similarly, Guglielmo Vicario will allow Tottenham to explore new tactical plans under Postecoglou.
Both sides are improving, and both could still do with one more centre-back.
It’s clear that 24-year-old Edmond Tapsoba does have the potential to be one of Europe’s best and he has benefited from playing under manager Xabi Alonso.
If Manchester United’s interest leads them to pip Tottenham in a move for £40m rated Tapsoba then it could be a significant win.
Harry Maguire looks close to a United exit with a move to West Ham progressing, and it’ll be interesting to see the club’s next move.
Meanwhile Spurs look keen to wrap up the majority of their business before the league starts.
Tapsoba’s future is definitely one to watch.
