‘Been everywhere’, ‘Unreal’: Some Manchester City fans hail their 24-year-old’s display for his country
Rodri started for Spain last night during their 0-0 draw with Sweden at Euro 2020 – and some Manchester City fans on Twitter hailed their player for his international display.
The 24-year-old Man City midfielder was in action on Monday at the Euros, but his country slumped to a goalless draw in a match they dominated with 85 per cent possession.
Rodri, who was taken off midway through the second half, kept it simple in the centre of the park by anchoring the midfield. However, Spain boss Luis Enrique pushed for an equaliser late on.
He’s a ball-playing midfielder that was key in Man City winning the Premier League title in the most recent season.
The Spaniard is not the flashiest player to watch. For instance, he keeps it simple on the ball, and is tough in his defensive work. But, he’s important for club and country doing the unsung stuff.

A selection of Man City supporters on social media named Rodri as an extremely impressive performer on his national display.
He got the nod ahead of Liverpool’s Thiago Alcantara in the XI, so it goes to show how highly Spain manager Luis Enrique rates him. After that, you must consider he starts in a squad stacked with other midfield talents.
Finally, Rodri is the master at dictating possession in the midfield positions.
