'Beautiful news': Some Arsenal fans react to what they're hearing about £30m man amid 'ludicrous' reports
A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react to comments made by Mikel Arteta concerning the future of Emile Smith Rowe amid interest from Aston Villa.
Smith Rowe has been at the centre of arguably one of the most perplexing transfer rumours of the summer so far.
The 20-year-old established himself as a key man for the Gunners last season. And it appeared that he was set to be a stalwart of the side for years to come.
However, Aston Villa seemingly did not get that memo.
It was previously reported that they had made two bids for the attacking midfielder, with the second offer reaching £30 million. And despite being knocked back, Villa apparently believed that there was a deal to be done.
In truth, it always seemed impossible to imagine Smith Rowe leaving for Villa Park. And Arteta has now made that scenario seem even more unlikely.
Following the pre-season friendly with Hibernian on Tuesday, Arteta insisted – in comments reported by The Athletic – that there was no chance of Smith Rowe leaving.
He also refused to comment after being asked about Villa bidding.
‘Great to hear’: Arsenal fans delighted as Arteta comments on Smith Rowe future
Unsurprisingly, the news has gone down incredibly well amongst Arsenal fans on social media.
It is clear that few were particularly worried anyway. But they are now even more confident in the wake of what Arteta has now said.
With that in mind, here is how some of the supporters have reacted to the comments…
