'Hardly mentioned his name': BBC pundit shocked by how bad player Arsenal want to sign was today
Youri Tielemans and Arsenal seem to go hand in hand this summer when it comes to the transfer market, albeit now deal has been done.
After being linked with a move for Tielemans all summer long, Arsenal have yet to actually make a concrete bid for the Belgian. Indeed, it’s something that is said to be annoying the Leicester man deep down. The midfielder seemingly having had his heart set on a move to The Emirates.
Of course, Tielemans had the ideal chance to audition for Mikel Arteta today as the Foxes travelled to north London in Premier League action. However, Tielemans – and the rest of the Leicester XI – failed miserably, losing 4-2 to the Gunners thanks to an inspired Gabriel Jesus performance.
And watching on for the BBC today, pundit Michael Brown admitted he was shocked by how uninvolved in the game Tielemans actually was.
“Where was Tielemans today? He is normally dictating possession and dictating play. We have hardly mentioned his name which tells you everything,” Brown said on BBC comms.
Tielemans will have been hoping to deliver a far better performance. Often swamped in the midfield, Arsenal simply had too much for the Belgian and his teammates.
TBR’s View: Tielemans Fails Arsenal Audition
Talk about blowing your big chance. Youri Tielemans had the ideal chance to show Mikel Arteta and Edu why they should fork out the £30m being reported on him and he was poor throughout.
Michael Brown was right to point out just where Tielemans had been all day. He couldn’t get involved really, and Arsenal fans might have expected more from the Leicester man.
For Arsenal, it was probably pleasing in a way Tielemans didn’t perform. However, it was probably bittersweet, given Gunners fans had been excited by his potential signing.
